These organisations focus mainly on a scholarly discipline or professional
practice e.g. medical associations and engineering associations. The main
services rendered include information dissemination, the establishment and
supervision of standards of practice, presentations before government agencies

Beauty treatment (incl nail, skin and health)
The beauty industry with its many different commercial facets offers a career
which not only has glamour but has tremendous opportunities for travel and
advancement. The range of services rendered includes facial massages, manicures
and pedicures, make-up and other beauty treatments. |

Funeral and related activities
The main activities of this industry include the burial and cremation of human
or animal corpses. Examples of related services are: the preparation of the dead
for burial/cremation, the provision of burial services, the rental of equipped
space in funeral parlours, undertaking services, the rental or sale of graves
and the upkeep and maintenance of graves.

Men’s and ladies hairdressing
Hairdressing is a creative art constantly changing its form in relation to
current fashion. The main services offered to both sexes include hair washing,
trimming and cutting, setting, dyeing, tinting, waving, and straightening as
well as shaving and beard trimming for men. |

Other service activities (inc. commercial activities)
The main activities of this group are related to physical well-being and
comfort, such as those carried out by Turkish baths, sauna and steam baths,
solariums, spas, reducing and slimming salons, massage salons, restrooms, etc.
Other services include astrological and spiritualist activities, social
activities such as escort services, dating services, services of marriage
bureaux, genealogical services and the work done by shoppers, shoe shiners,
porters, etc. |

secretarial)
The main services rendered by this industry include payroll, secretarial and
administration services. |

General consulting (including management consulting – code
99015)
The main activities of this industry involve giving advice, guidance or
operational assistance to businesses. Public relations is also one of the
activities where relations of the client with the public, media or others
(excluding paid advertisements), are improved. |

CCMA and bargaining councils
This group is similar to the one of associations and federations in the sense
that they represent people’s interests. The CCMA and the bargaining councils
attend to and attempt to resolve disputes mainly arising in the workplace by
representing employees. |

Call centre management
Call centres deliver a variety of services to customers through the use of the
telephones and agents. This involves a set of functions or actions that can be
carried out in a number of ways using multiple delivery channels. Call centres
merge information and telecommunications technology, allowing clients to talk to
knowledgeable representatives who have speedy access to information. |

Labour recruitment
The main activities of this industry include staff recruitment, selection,
referral and placement in relation to employment in any field. They supply their
services to potential employers or prospective employees. |

Marketing services
Marketing is a profession which offers scope for a variety of skills and
abilities. It is the management process by which the requirements of customers
are anticipated and satisfied profitably. In order to do this many skills and
techniques are used including market research, advertising, merchandising,
promotions, public relations and sales forecasting. |

Marketing research and public opinion polling
The services rendered by this industry include investigations into market
potential with the intention of determining what the buying habits of consumers
are, or their familiarity with and acceptance of a specific product. This is
done for the purpose of the promotion and development of new products. Other
activities are investigations into collective public opinion regarding
political, economic and social issues. |

Market communications (including public relations)
The main focus here is on using messages and related media to communicate with a
market. Marketing communication is concerned with the general behaviour of an
organization and the perceptions of the organization that are promoted to
stakeholders. |
|
Direct marketing
This type of marketing is different from the other types in the sense that it
attempts to send its messages directly to consumers, without using intervening
data. |
|
Property management
This industry involves the leasing of commercial and residential real estate.
One important role is that of liaison between the landlord and tenant. Duties of
property management include accepting rent, responding to and addressing
maintenance issues, advertising vacancies for landlords, and doing credit and
background checks on tenants. |

Real estate agencies, valuers and auctioneers
The services rendered by this industry include buying, selling, renting,
managing and the appraisal of real estate for a fee or on a contract basis , and
cover the activities of real estate agents, rent collectors etc. |

Generic project management
This industry specialises in organising and managing resources (e.g. people) in
such a way that projects are completed within defined scope, quality, time and
cost constraints. |

Mail handling and courier services
This industry’s activities include picking up, transporting and delivering
letters and other mail types, usually small packages and parcels. The activities
may be carried out either using private or public transport. |
|
National postal activities
The services rendered include picking up, transporting and delivering mail and
parcels both locally and internationally. |
|
General cleaning
The main activity of this industry revolves around garden-, domestic-,
commercial-, dry-, carpet- and upholstery cleaning services (using either
employees or sub-contractors). |

Miscellaneous item hire (video, car etc.)
This industry’s main activities include the hiring of items such as videos ,
cars, tents etc. |
|
Truck and plant hire
The main activities of this industry include the hiring of earth moving
machinery and trucks for the construction, civil engineering and domestic
markets. |

Event and conference management excl operation of
convention centres
The services of this industry are mainly concerned with management of
conferences, seminars, training, roadshows; exhibitions etc. Activities also
include the creative design of the conference or event, an efficient project
process covering all logistical aspects. |
